Adri Khalis, MA Practicum Student
Please Note: As Mr Khalis works as a senior PhD candidate practicum student under the direct supervision of Drs Dorfan and Shahin, his services are billed at a reduced rate relative to our other clinicians.
Adri Khalis is a PhD student in the Clinical Psychology program at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He previously completed his Master’s Degree at UBC, including numerous clinical practica through the UBC Psychology Clinic, UBC Hospital, and the Vancouver Psychotherapy Centre.
Adri has received extensive clinical training in providing evidence-based treatments for depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, trauma, emotion dysregulation, and borderline personality disorder. He has experience working with clients across the lifespan using cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, and psychodynamic psychotherapy approaches in both group and individual settings.
At Changeways Clinic, Adri provides cognitive behaviour therapy for individuals experiencing depression and anxiety-related issues, such as social anxiety, panic, PTSD, obsessions, compulsions, phobias, worry, and stress related to daily living, life changes, or traumatic events. His clinical work is supervised by Registered Psychologists Dr. Nicole Dorfan and Dr. Jaleh Shahin.
Adri’s goal in therapy is to guide and empower clients to enact meaningful changes in their lives with the ultimate goal of reducing suffering and improving quality of life. He has an authentic, supportive, and collaborative style and brings his curiosity, humour, and a non-judgemental stance to his work with clients.
Adri is a firm believer in first developing an understanding of a problem and reflecting on what maintains it, before any change or acceptance can be achieved. He also has a strong interest in the intersection of culture, race, and mental-health in people’s lives.
