Approach to Therapy and Areas of Expertise

In life, we encounter many different experiences: those filled with joy, hope, and pleasure, but also those impacted by hardship, loss, trauma, and pain. Wherever you find yourself in this journey, psychological therapy can offer insights into how to process, accept, and/or shift experiences that may be particularly difficult for you.

I work with clients with a variety of mental health concerns including anxiety, low mood, depression, grief, and coping with life stress or changes. I provide evidence-based treatment for specific anxiety-related concerns including social anxiety, generalized anxiety, panic attacks, health anxiety, as well as obsessive-compulsive disorder and intrusive thoughts. I also have a special interest in working with individuals with psychosis, which may include experiences such as hearing voices and having unusual beliefs.

My approach includes Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and integrates elements of mindfulness, self-compassion, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I offer a warm, compassionate, genuine, and client-centred space that fosters exploration, flexibility, and enhanced coping with challenging issues. Together we identify areas of concern and develop an individualized treatment path forward. I also take a strengths-based approach, meaning that I attend to your innate strengths, resilience, and ability to recover.

Training background

I completed my graduate training in Clinical Psychology (MA and PhD) at Simon Fraser University, and my undergraduate degree (BA Honours) at the University of British Columbia. During my pre-doctoral residency, I trained at St. Joseph’s Healthcare in Hamilton Ontario, where I completed comprehensive rotations in the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders, early psychosis, and severe mental illness (e.g., schizophrenia). In my graduate training I completed several clinical placements across the Lower Mainland, including community mental health clinics, inpatient hospital settings, private practice, and a university psychology clinic.

About me

I am originally from Shanghai, China and moved to the Lower Mainland at the age of six. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, practicing yoga and mindfulness, hiking, skiing, and savouring good food.
